Hi Friends! Welcome to Lillie James Photography! Asking you to trust me to take photos is a big deal to me, so let me tell you a little bit about myself. My name is Ali and I am the woman behind the lens. I have been married to my husband, Heath, for six years, and we have been together for almost ten. We have one little boy, Wyatt, two rescue dogs, Dexter and Lucy, and cu live on five acres in west St. Louis County.
So how did I get into photography? It is kind of a long story, so I will just hit a few main points. A little over five years ago, Heath took me camping for the first time, ever. Growing up, we spent our vacations on the beach and never went camping. To say that my parents and sisters were shocked that I had agreed to camp would be an understatement.
Even though it rained the entire time, I fell in love with camping. Heath and I spent the following years building up his Toyota Tacoma to be our adventure mobile. After many road trips out west, we decided that me driving the risky trails was not great for our relationship (ha!) so Heath thought it would be a great idea to get me a camera to capture our adventures.
My love for photography has since grown from capturing our adventures to capturing special moments in time to create memories. While I prefer to shoot outdoors in natural light, I have a small studio in-home as well as a travel kit. I would describe my work as "lifestyle" as I love to capture candid, real, and often times raw, moments; which allows me to tell your story authentically.
In early 2020, we made the decision for me to stop working my 9-5 in marketing and stay-home full-time with Wyatt while working on growing LJP. Just a few short weeks later, COVID-19 was declared a pandemic and a stay-at-home order was put into place.
Now that some orders have been lifted, I have finally been able to take on new clients! Don't worry, social distancing measures are in place and will remain that way until further notice.
